Abstract

“Cenere” by Grazia Deledda is a novel that focuses on the relationship between male and female in a family context. The female positioned in a chauvinist environment fights to have her rights but everything vanishes before male authority. The deleddian male is a possessive, authoritarian and threatening figure and for this reason we wanted to shed on his figure. Since ancient times the male has been the symbol of strength and despite his roles in society “son, husband, father and grandfather” his figure remains emblematic in society. His relationship with the other male in an open competition that always ends in flight e or abandonment
