Abstract

This article is a contribution to the study of the poetic work of Mohammed Dib. If the latter's novelistic work has benefited from particular interest from literary critics, his poetry, on the other hand, has remained unexplored for a long time, or even ignored. In order to highlight this important aspect of the dibian work, we will use the different analytical tools offered to us by poetics, such as images and metaphors as well as the semiotics of Roland Barthes and the elements of Greek mythology and Muslim mystical thought. From his first poems, in 1947, an original voice, with Rimbaldian and Mallarmean accents, is now audible, opening the way to a very rich poetic work, that of Mohammed Dib, worthy heir of the great masters of Sufism.
