Images and models of unknown and neglected manifestations of rulers and power in Algeria in the 18th century in the light of legal documents from the Ottoman archives

Abstract

The government and rulers in Algeria during the Ottoman era were plagued by many negative prejudices which littered the pages of Western sources and writings, particularly during the period of French colonization, and which contributed to presenting a bleak picture. of this period, in particular on the relationship between rulers and subjects, which was characterized by what she described as injustice, exploitation and various abuses. From this point of view, this study was presented as an attempt to reconsider the extent of the credibility of the image that these Western sources and studies have held to convey and consecrate in people's minds as a historical fact and therefore this study aims demonstrating the positive facets of government and Ottoman rulers in Algeria based on local sources represented by a number of legal archival documents.
