Abstract

Antalas is one of the symbols of resistance in the ancient Maghreb. His fame spread at an early age for his resistance to both Vandal and Byzantine occupation. He fought many battles against them and was able to defeat them in many battles thanks to his wisdom and war tactics that amazed his enemies. This prompted the Byzantine Emperor Justinian to send his strongest armies every time to stifle his resistance, and to resist all the revolutionaries who refused their presence in their land. Antalas did not rest and tire from fighting for the liberation of his land, accompanied by the emirates that gathered under his banner, rejecting this occupier who sought to expel them despite the hordes, equipment, and cunning plans that the Byzantines used to get them in an attempt to restore the glories of the Roman Empire. However, Antalas continued to fight them tirelessly until his defeat in the Battle of Cato's Fields, which was the last stop in the struggle of this hero who left his mark on the history.
