Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective of this article is to depict a sociolinguistic overview of the present languages in Algeria and the linguistic policies of the State towards them. It also exposes the plurality of relations and attitudes of the various sociolinguistic uses, starting from the classic and dialectal Arabic, French and Tamazight (Berber). To this end, a retrospective look at the history of the linguistic configuration of the country during its contemporary history, since it would be useful to understand the political and social stakes that characterize the current linguistic cartography, is thrown with a focus on the definition of the institutional linguistic landscape of social and academic use to highlight the (re)composition of the linguistic diversity and its empirical translation with its complementarities, dichotomies and oppositions
