This study aims to reveal the cognitive pitfalls and methodological contradictions in the socalled Applied Islamology in the project “Criticism of Islamic Reason” by the Algerian thinker Muhammad Arkoun . These pitfalls and contradictions forcefully present themselves, in our opinion ,as a result of subjecting the Qu’ranic text and forcibly adapting it to respond to ready- made western approaches detached from their historical and cultural contexts, and considering them as undisputed Scientific approaches on the one hand. on the other hand amassing a huge arsenal of those approaches that agree with each other or contradict each other, made Arkoun arrive at results that were predetermined and common in the context of westernheritage to which it was applied ,making them results that expose his Ideological tendencies and biases more than they express Scientific knowledgear_AR
