In the ethno-linguistic groups of Gabon, and in particular among the bàpùnù and the ǹkɔ́mì (languages covered by this study), parentage is a necessary element to define and identify the individual. Therefore, the name of each individual is linked or affiliated with that of his father by an element, called connector. The latter can be formally marked or not.
