It focuses on the manifestations of fragmentation that affected the central authority as a result of struggles over power, as well as on the nature of a society characterized by social stratification and religious and ethnic diversity. These conditions paved the way for the historical transformation experienced by the region following the arrival of Muslim forces in 92 AH / 711 CE, after which the peninsula came to be known in Islamic sources as al-Andalus. Iberian Peninsulapolitical conditionssocietyIslamic conquestal-AndalusThe Iberian Peninsula (al-andalus) On The Eve Of The Islamic Conquest: A Reading Of The Political Landscape And Social Structureشبه جزيرة إيبيريا )األندلس( قبيل الفتح اإلسالمي: قراءة في املشهد السياس ي والتركيبة االجتماعيةArticle
