dc.description.abstract The present thesis is an investigation about the status of English within the large-scale business settings in the Algerian economic context, particularly multinational companies. Little research has targeted English in multinationals, and none has addressed the issue of English status amid large-scale globalized business enterprises in Algeria. One of the fundamental presumptions directing this research is the axiomatic acknowledgement of English spread worldwide, and the roles it plays as a global linguistic phenomenon for communication even among non-native speakers. At industry level, English is perceived to be a Business English as Lingua Franca (BELF) ar_AR
