dc.description.abstract The Ottomans' view of the Maghreb began when the Barbaros brothers allied themselves with Sultan Bani Hafs in exchange for a fifth of the spoils, and after their victories in the western Mediterranean basin , The inhabitants of Algeria, led by the sheikh of the city, Salim Toumi, appealed to them with the aim of confronting the Spanish external threat to the Algerian coasts and the occupation of several cities ,At the beginning of the 16th century, the Ottoman Empire became the most powerful force capable of fighting the Spanish threat in the north of the Maghreb, especially in Algeria, The beginning of the Ottoman presence in Jijel and Bejaia was to repel this Crusader aggression, the conclusion of which was the inauguration of the Ottoman rule in Algeria in 1519. ar_AR
