This article aims at clarifying the structural relationship between multiple identities and the philosophy of tolerance and recognition. It is the building of multiple identities in different societies that leads to the rejection of violence and the idea of peaceful coexistence, because this multiplicity of identities establishes the principles of tolerance and sows the seeds of the philosophy of recognition among the various components of society Which makes it (multiple identities) an important functional phenomenon in advancing the social and political development towards balance and relative stability. It also aims to show the philosophical views on the issue of identity as a combination of values and ethics between those who believe that they are made by individuals and those who believe that they are not made by individuals but are made by society. The article used the critical analytical method in investigating this phenomenon, subject to the opinions of some important philosophers and sociologists who dealt with issues of identity and its association with the phenomenon of violence and then its debate with tolerance and recognition.
