The article is a critical analytical study of one of the most important legacies of the Turkish political culture, which is the legacy
Ottoman civilisation. This legacy, which constituted a focal point of Turkish political thought during the process of building the Turkish state, underwent, over time periods, several critical intellectual processes framed and governed by the concept of epistemological estrangement. From the Turkish policy based on the references of Kemalist secular thought based on the break with the Islamic cultural heritage to the Turkish policy based on the references of Erdogan’s thought represented by the Justice and Development Party aiming at reviving the Islamic civilizational heritage and the break with secularism, this study came to show the location of the Ottoman civilizational heritage among the references Turkish politics and the meaning of rupture with the heritage in Turkish political thought.
