Abstract:
This article will analyze the fi lm adaptation of
the novel The colonel has no one to write to him,
written by the eminent Colombian author, Gabriel
García Márquez and brought to the screen by the
Mexican fi lmmaker Arturo Ripstein. Investigating
the differences and similarities between both
texts, literary and fi lm, will establish how the
transformation of a novel to a fi lm works, how a
text that uses written language can be presented in
another that uses audiovisual language
