Abstract:
The study aimed to reveal the extent to which there is a relationship between the
feeling of psychological loneliness and social support and to reveal the differences
that appear in the feeling of psychological loneliness and social support according to
the gender variable, and the study sample consisted of 80 male and female students studying at the University of Algiers-2-, and the tools used were El-Desouky's Scale
of Psychological Loneliness (1998) and Turner's Social Support Scale and using
multiple statistical methods represented in Pearson's correlation coefficient and t-test
to study differences.
The use of these different tools and means has resulted in a set of important
results, which were mainly represented in the existence of a significant correlation
between the feeling of psychological loneliness and social support among the male
and female students of the University of Algiers - 2 - There are no statistically
significant differences between the arithmetic averages of the degrees of
psychological loneliness depending on the gender variable - there are no Statistically
significant differences between the arithmetic averages of the degrees of social
support according to the gender variable. One of the most important
recommendations is the establishment of seminars, discussions and forums through
which it is possible to identify social situations that cause a feeling of psychological
loneliness, creating a healthy social atmosphere in educational institutions where
love, cooperation, friendship and kindness prevail, with the attention of parent.
