The place in Arabic literature: narrative picture of the evolution of the city of Amman. The status of the notion of place is described in its socio-cultural dimensions as the main category of identity as updated in literary texts in general. On this background, this paper test a reading grid developed to analysis of novels written on the Jordanian capital Amman. Through the analysis of these novels, this study identifies changes in the Jordanian capital, from its status of village to that of a big city. It assesses the degree of change in social restructuring and the emergence of new social issues during seventies & eighties especially considering the case of neighborhood "Echamissiani", in many semiotic novels.
