Abstract

تُعَدُّ تنمية المجموعات من الخدمات التقنية غير المباشرة التي تُقَدِّمها المكتبات، وتُعتبر من أبرز هذه الخدمات وأكثرها أهمية، نظرًا لتأثيرها البالغ في وجود المكتبة ذاتها. فبدون توافر الكتب والمجلدات ومصادر المعلومات المختلفة، وما يتطلبه ذلك من عمليات مستمرة لتطوير هذه المصادر، لما كان بمقدور المكتبة أن تؤدي دورها أو حتى أن توجد. لا يمكن لأي مكتبة أن تحقق أهدافها التربوية والتعليمية والبحثية إلا إذا توفَّرت لديها مجموعات قوية ومتنوعة من أوعية المعلومات، تكون قادرة على تلبية احتياجات جميع فئات المستفيدين. وتُعَدُّ مصادر المعلومات التي تقتنيها المكتبة بمختلف أشكالها العمود الفقري للخدمة المكتبية. ويتحدد مدى كفاءة هذه الخدمة بقدر ما تتسم به هذه المصادر من ملاءمة لاهتمامات المستخدمين ومتطلباتهم. ومن ثم، فإن المجموعات التي تمتلكها المكتبة تُعَدُّ الركيزة الأساسية لتقديم خدمة مكتبية فاعلة وعالية الجودة، إذ تمثل مقتنيات المكتبة عنصرًا أساسيًا في تحديد هويتها، كما تُعَدُّ مؤشرًا مهمًا لتقييم كفاءة عمل المكتبة. وقد أدَّت تطورات تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات، واستخدام تقنيات الويب والمصادر الإلكترونية، إلى تحوُّل جذري في طبيعة عمل المكتبات ومراكز المعلومات، حيث أثَّرت هذه التطورات بشكل كبير على مختلف الوظائف المكتبية، خاصة فيما يتعلق باختيار وتنمية المجموعات الرقمية. وقد سعت المكتبات إلى تحديث نفسها وتطوير إجراءاتها التقنية، من خلال تبني خدمات حديثة ترتبط بتنمية المجموعات الرقمية، سواء من حيث الاختيار أو التزويد أو تقييم المجموعات وتنقيتها. كما ساهمت شبكات المعلومات في توفير أساليب جديدة لتنمية هذه المجموعات منها أسلوب الإتاحة بدلاً من التملك. تهدف هذه المطبوعة البيداغوجية الخاصة بوحدة تنمية المجموعات الرقمية باستخدام التقنية الحديثة في بناء وتنمية المجموعات المكتبية في ظل البيئة الرقمية، ويتكون هذا المقياس على محاضرات موجهة لطلبة الماستر2 من السداسي الثالث لتخصص تسيير ومعالجة المعلومات. Collection development is considered one of the essential technical and indirect services provided by libraries. It is among the most prominent and significant services due to its profound impact on the very existence of the library itself. Without the availability of books, publications, and various information resources — along with continuous processes for their development — a library would not be able to fulfill its role or even exist. No library can achieve its educational, pedagogical, and research objectives unless it possesses strong and diverse collections of information materials capable of meeting the needs of all user groups. The information resources acquired by the library in various forms constitute the backbone of library services. The efficiency of these services depends largely on how well these resources meet users’ interests and requirements. Therefore, the collections owned by a library are considered the fundamental basis for delivering effective and high-quality library services. Library holdings represent a key element in defining the library’s identity and serve as an important indicator for evaluating the performance and efficiency of the library. Developments in information and communication technology, as well as the use of web-based tools and electronic resources, have brought about a radical transformation in the nature of work within libraries and information centers. These developments have significantly affected various library functions, especially in terms of selection and digital collection development. Libraries have sought to modernize and improve their technical procedures by adopting new services related to digital collection development, including selection, acquisition, evaluation, and weeding. Moreover, information networks have introduced innovative methods for developing such collections, such as the model of "access over ownership." This pedagogical publication, dedicated to the unit of digital collection development, aims to explore the use of modern technology in building and developing library collections within the digital environment. It consists of lectures addressed to second-year Master’s students (third semester) specializing in Information Management and Processing.
