The objectives of this article are to investigate areas of intercultural pragmatic breakdowns in EFL learners’ online communication with natives and their causes. This work employed a quantitative method wherein a questionnaire was administered to 74 second-year English students at the University of Abbes Laghrour University to investigate their views regarding those problems. The findings obtained revealed problems linked to pragma-linguistic, sociopragmatic, and pragmastylistic issues. This is due to learners’ low language proficiency and lack of exposure to authentic materials.
