في ظل التطورات الحديثة وما توصل إليه علم الصوتيات من دقة بالغة في تحليل المقاطع الصوتية، وطريقة تكلم كل شخص، فإن العلم الجنائي أضحى في مسيس الحاجة اليوم إلى اللسانيات وأحد أهم فروعها المتمثل في علم الأصوات، وذلك بغية مساعدته في تحليل المكالمات التسجيلات المتعلقة بالجرائم والأحداث الجنائية. يروم هذا البحث إلى الوقوف على توظيف البصمة اللسانية في البحث الجنائي، ذلك أن اللسانيات تعمل على منح الأدوات المساعدة للبحث الجنائي، من خلال تزويده بآليات متنوعة، يستخدمها المتحري لفك ألغاز الجرائم.
