Abstract
In Mandarin, to express time, we sometimes take advantage of the vertical metaphor. But does this linguistic phenomenon reveal that advanced Mandarin speakers can consider time in a vertical way? To resolve it, we sketched out a field survey; and the result obtained helps us to understand the so-called vertical morphemes in a psychosystematic way.
