Its status and perception have witnessed a profound change as it has undergone a substantial shift in attitudes toward homosexuals and remarkable progress in the recognition of their rights. In addition, the increased visibility achieved through the positive and diverse representations of the queer community in educational curricula, media, and mainly literature helped challenge biases and stereotypes and promote acceptance. Emily Giffin’s empowering representation and portrait of the gay character, Jason, in her novel Heart of The Matter expresses her adherence to the campaign of fighting stereotypes and promoting an appealing image of homosexuality to her readership.
