Approche Terminologique Et ébauche D’une Description Des Représentations à L’égard Du Français Dans Trois Villes Du Bénin

Abstract

cet article propose une étude qui consiste à présenter une esquisse des différentes représentations sociolinguistiques répertoriées dans les villes de Cotonou, de Porto-Novo et dThis study analyses the debates and polemics which decorated the many attempts at definition of the concept of representation, but especially note that certain definitions suggested are complementary. We also tried to make our modest contribution for their improvement on the terminological level. It’s also consisted in presenting a draft of the various sociolinguistics representations répertoriables in the towns of Cotonou, Porto-Novo and Parakou. We became convinced that, for the speakers of these cities in general, the French language occupied a choice place whereas the national languages are satisfied with a subordinate place. This dichotomy is also perceptible as regards linguistic statute. Indeed, the statute of official language is allotted to French, while that “non official” language returns to the national languages. e Parakou dans un pays plurilingue comme le Bénin.
