La traduzione e l’insegnamento delle lingue straniere Translation and teaching of foreign languages

Abstract

Riassunto: La traduzione come tecnica didattica, bandita per molti anni e sconsigliata nell'insegnamento delle lingue straniere, sembra tornare ad avere un ruolo importante negli ultimi tempi. Nella presente relazione ci concentriamo sulla sua riabilitazione nell'insegnamento delle lingue e i sui suoi numerosi vantaggi e benefici per restituirgli la sua posizione nella didattica delle lingue. Daremo anche uno sguardo agli eventi storici che hanno segnato la sua storia al fine di capire le ragioni della sua esclusione. In fine proponiamo alcune riflessioni metodologiche sull'uso di attività basati sul processo di traduzione in classe con un riguardo particolare all'insegnamento della lingua italiana a studenti algerini.

Translation as a teaching technique banished for many years and not recommended in the teaching of foreign languages, seems to be regaining an important role in recent times. In this communication we focus on its rehabilitation in language teaching and its many advantages and benefits that it offers in order to restore its place in the teaching of languages. We will also give an overview on the historical events that marked its history in order to understand the reasons for its exclusion. To conclude, we propose some reflections methods for using activities based on the translation process in the classroom paying particular attention to the teaching of the Italian language to Algerian students.
