دور الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في المحافظة على استقلال ليبيريا 1816 - 1885م

Abstract

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تسليط الضوء على طبيعة العلاقات التاريخية بين الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وليبيريا التي أنشئت على الشاطئ الغربي لإفريقيا في أوائل العقد الثالث من القرن التاسع عشر، حيث تمكنت من تثبيت أقدامها على الساحل الإفريقي بعد إعلانها الاستقلال في عام 1847م، وتطورت علاقاتها بها بعد ذلك وفقًا للظروف التي مرت بها ليبيريا، واختلف الأسلوب الذي انتهجته الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في معالجتها لشتى المواقف التي تعرضت لها ليبيريا من طرف الإمبريالية الأوروبية من أجل استعمار أراضيها، حيث لم تكن ليبيريا مستعمرة بالمعنى المتعارف عليه للاستعمار، وإنما كان يحكمها وكلاء تتولى تعينهم جمعية الاستعمار الأمريكية، وعليه نالت ليبيريا اهتمام الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بشدة في الساحل الإفريقي اعتمادًا على الروابط التاريخية بين الدولتين، بالإضافة إلى دورها الريادي الذي لعبته في نشأة ليبيريا كدولة قائمة على ساحل إفريقيا الغربي This study aims to shed light on the nature of the historical relations between the United States of America and Liberia, which were established on the western shore of Africa in the early thirties of the 19 century, as it was able to establish itself on the African coast after declaring independence in 1847 AD. These relations have subsequently developed according to the conditions that Liberia has experienced. The approach adopted by the USA differed in its handling of the various situations that European imperialism subjected to Liberia in order to colonize its lands, since Liberia was not a colony in the conventional sense of colonialism; as it was ruled by agents appointed by the American Colonization Society. Accordingly, Liberia gained the US' keen interest in the African coast, based on the historical ties between the two countries, in addition to the pioneering role it played in the emergence of Liberia
