dc.description.abstractThis article discusses Content-based Instruction and its importance in facilitating the learning of both content and language. CBI is based on the assumption that the content can offer a significant and relevant framework for the language items that are being introduced and will be further discussed in the course. Furthermore, the language across the curriculum movement (LAC)is highlighted by focusing on the historical significance of this trend. Central to this is the role of content faculties in the instruction of languages in general and English in particular to cope with the rest of the world and for the visibility of our Algerian higher education institutions in the universal scene. Next, we will discuss particular models that encourage language integration throughout the curriculum and further clarify the distinctions between these various models. Finally, we will examine the case of English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) in Algeria, focusing on the context of our country and the potentials and challenges for such implementation.ar_AR
