Abstract

The manuscript is an important relic kept by libraries, and it is a guide to the history of nations and their journey through time, in different fields, political, economic, and civilizational in its broadest sense. There is no doubt that the study of the science of manuscripts draws attention to the precise technical rules that must be adopted to discover this enormous quantity of manuscripts that our country stores and that are kept in different places. In this article, we have chosen the document “’Uqûd”, which gathers traditions recorded in a medium-sized booklet of twelve sheets. This manuscript is kept in the Department of Manuscripts of the National Library of Algeria. We will try to identify its content, the subjects related to our deep history, and the importance of the study of this manuscript in the recent period of the history of Ottoman Algeria.
