Abstract

This article examines Urban Sociology from both theoretical and applied perspectives, focusing on classical foundations and contemporary developments in cities worldwide, particularly in the Arab world and Algeria. The study begins by analyzing the contributions of classical scholars such as Ibn Khaldun, highlighting their insights into urbanization and social cohesion, followed by perspectives from the Chicago School and critical urban theories. Contemporary challenges including globalization, digitalization, smart cities, and rapid urban expansion are also addressed. The article emphasizes the role of research institutions and universities in supporting urban studies and linking theoretical knowledge with practical policies to achieve sustainable development, social justice, and improved urban quality of life. Finally, the study discusses future research directions in Urban Sociology, focusing on digital analytical tools, civic participation in urban planning, and the preservation of local cultural identity. يستعرض هذا المقال علم الاجتماع الحضري من منظور نظري وتطبيقي، مع التركيز على الأسس الكلاسيكية والتطورات المعاصرة التي شهدتها المدن في العالم العربي والجزائر. يبدأ البحث بتحليل الإسهامات الفكرية للباحثين الكلاسيكيين مثل ابن خلدون، وأثرها في فهم التحضر والعصبية الاجتماعية، مرورًا بمقاربات مدرسة شيكاغو والتحليلات النقدية للمدن، وصولًا إلى التحديات المعاصرة مثل العولمة، الرقمنة، المدن الذكية، والتوسع العمراني السريع. كما يسلط المقال الضوء على دور المؤسسات البحثية والجامعات في دعم الدراسات الحضرية، وربط البحث النظري بالسياسات العملية لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة، العدالة الاجتماعية، وتحسين جودة الحياة في المدن. أخيرًا، يناقش المقال آفاق البحث المستقبلي لعلم الاجتماع الحضري، مع التركيز على تطوير أدوات التحليل الرقمي، دمج المجتمع المدني في التخطيط، والحفاظ على الهوية الثقافية المحلية.
