We focus on The Black Renaissance in America and the Literary Revolution in AlgeriaItem Jean Toomer’s “cane” Or The Search For Racial Identity(Faculté des Langues Etrangères. Université d'Alger 2 Abu al-Qasim Saadallah, 2017-06-01) Kaced, AssiaJim Crow and the continuing supremacist policies that characterized America of the 1920’s considered black people as savages, and placed them, accordingly, at the bottom of the social scale, next to apes. White writers of the era, influenced by the segregationist policies adopted by White America, placed African Americanson the periphery in their literary works. Consequently, the African American writers felt a great need to deconstruct the negative images of their people as drawn by their white counterparts, and try, instead, to make a more authentic representation of their people. In the present article, we will analyze the way Jean Toomer has interrogated, in his novel Cane (1922), the myth upon which racism and the subjugation of black people in America was built. We will also see how the African American writer has reconstructed history from an African American point of view. ملخص جيم كرو واستمرار سياسات التفوق التي ميزت أمريكا من عام 1920 يعتبر السود ﻜﺷﻌﺐ همج، ووضع، وفقا لذلك، في أسفل السلم الاجتماعي، إلى جانب القرود. الكُتاب البِيض ﻠﺘﻠﻚ ﺍﻟﻓﺘﺮﺓ ﺍﻠﻤﺘأﺛﺮﻴﻦ ﺑسياسات التفرقة العنصرية المعتمدة من قبل البيض، أﻈﻬﺮﻮﺍ الأميركيين الأفارقة، في مصنفاتهم الأدبية، على الهامش. وبناء على ذلك، رأى الكُتاب الأﻣﺮﻜﻴﻮﻦ من أصول أفريقية حاجة كبيرة لتفكيك الصور السلبية لشعوبها كما رسمها نظرائهم البيض، وﺤﺍﻭﻠﻮﺍ، بدلا من ذلك، جعل التمثيل أكثر واقعية ﻠشعوﺒﻬﻡ. في هذا النص، سنقوم بتحليل الطريقة التي ﺍﻋﺘﻣﺪﮬﺍ جان تومر Jean Toomer، في روايته "قصب" (1922)، لتفكيك الأسطورة التي قامت عليه العنصرية واستعباد السود في أمريكا. سوف نرى أيضا كيف أن الكاتب الأمريكي من أصل أفريقي قد أﻋﺍﺪ بناﺀ التاريخ من وجهة النظر الأميركية الأفريقية.Item Racial Profiling And The Criminilization Of The Black Youth In The Hate U Give By Angie Thomas (2017)(2023-06-30) Kaced, AssiaThe aim of this article is to analyze the way aggressive policing affects the life of young black people in Thomas Angie's novel, The Hate U Give.(2017) The racial categorization of Black Americans as dangerous or violent criminals threatening the well being of the whites has resulted in a strong belief that they need to be controlled at whatever cost. (Henning,2021; Taylor, 2016 Weissinger et al, 2017). Accordingly, agencies of social control, like the police forces, and the legal system that are supposed to protect the Black community , have become a source of fear and despair, demeaning, humiliating, and killing young black people by virtue of their skin color. Through her female protagonist's experience with police brutality and racism, , Angie Thomas seeks to set the ground for discussion of black people's experience of racial profiling and criminalization. She addresses questions of social inequity, racist law enforcement , and the immunity of the white police. She also aims at celebrating the memories of the young people gone prematurely and tragically.
