The strategies are focused on the interaction between the components of writing proficiency. I will first present those components as coutlined by Canale and Swain (1980). Iwill then describe how teacherss can effectively design a course where those components interact. I will stress the importance of a teacher student interaction with the teacher intervening at various points while the students write their assignemment. The reforms in our universities have brought in new perspectives to teaching as well as learning. These reforms are aimed to assist students to become autonomous as much as possible. The present paper sheds light on learners’ autonomy and related variables. Students’ outcomes are not simply associated with their mental and cognitive ability or disability, but they are also related to personal characteristics such as motivation, self-esteem and risk-taking.
