Item VOCABULARY LEARNING STRATEGIES AND GENDER DIFFERENCES An Experimental Case Study of EFL Undergraduate Students at the English Department of Algiers 2 University(جامعة الجزائر2 أبو القاسم سعد الله Algiers2 University Abu El Kacem Saad Allah, 2023) SADEK صادق, Rima ريمة; NEDJAI MEBTOUCHE, Fatma Zohra (Directrice de thése)This research explored the vocabulary learning strategies employed by EFL undergraduate students at the English Department of Algiers 2 University, highlighting the influence of gender and year of study. It aimed to identify the most/least utilized and perceived as useful VLS strategies as well as examined the adopted approaches. A range of instruments were employed: questionnaires, classroom observation, vocabulary levels tests, focus groups, think-aloud protocol, and survey. The findings indicated that contextual guessing and bilingual dictionaries were frequently used, while using physical activity and testing oneself were less commonly deployed. Third-year students demonstrated higher VLS utilization rates compared to first-year students. VLSs were perceived as useful overall. Gender differences were minor, with both employing VLSs similarly. Students' approaches varied, with females adopting a more structured approach and prioritizing recent or potentially diversified methods, while males relied more on digital resources through a semi-structured approach تكشف هذه الدراسة التي بين استراتيجيات تعلم المفردات المستخدمة من قبل الطلاب الجامعيين المتخصصين في تعلم اللغة الإنجليزية، مع التركيز على تأثير الجنسانية والسنة الأكاديمية. تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحديد الاستراتيجيات الأكثر / الأقل استخدامًا والمعتبرة كمفيدة. كما تفحص النهج التي اعتمده الطلاب طوال رحلتهم الأكاديمية. تم استخدام مجموعة من أدوات لجمع البيانات، بما في ذلك الاستبيانات وملاحظات الفصل الدراسي واختبارات المفردات وفرق المناقشة وبروتوكولات التفكير بصوت عالٍ واستطلاعات. تشير النتائج إلى أن استراتيجيات التحديد تستخدم بشكل متكرر، في حين أن استراتيجيات الذاكرة والمعرفة الذاتية تستخدم بشكل أقل شيوعًا. أظهر الطلاب في السنة الثالثة معدلات أعلى لاستخدام مقارنةً بالطلاب السنة الأولى. تمت إدراكها بشكل عام كمفيدة، مع وجود تباينات بين دورات الدراسة المختلفة. كانت الفروق الجنسانية طفيفة، حيث يستخدمها الطلاب والطالبات بشكل مماثل. تختلف نهج الطلاب، حيث تستخدم الإناث طريقة منهجية وتعطي الأولوية للكلمات الحديثة أو المفيدة بشكل محتمل، بينما يعتمد الذكور بشكل أكبر على الموارد الرقمية بطريقة نصف منهجيةItem مستوى الطموح وعلاقته بالعدوانية عند تلاميذ التعليم المتوسط و الثانوي(مجلة الدراسات النفسية, 2021-12-12) درقاوي, ليندةتهدف هذه الدراسة إلى الكشف عن العلاقة الارتباطيه بين مستوى الطموح و العدوانية عند(489) تلميذا وتلميذة من التعليم المتوسط والثانوي، ولاختبار الفرضيات اعتمدنا على مقياس مستوى الطموح لمحمد النوبي محمد علي(2010) ومقياس العدوانية ل أمال عبد السميع باظة (2008) حيث توصلت الدراسة إلى أن هناك علاقة بين مستوى الطموح والعدوانية وهي علاقة سالبة. كما توصلنا إلى أنه توجد فروق بين الذكور والإناث في الطموح لصالح الإناث وفروق بين الذكور والإناث في العدوانية لصالح الذكور. : The present study can be classified as a descriptive survey. The purpose of data collection is to investigate the relation between the level of ambition and aggression of 489 middle and secondary school children. The outcome of this research has shown that there is a negative relation between aggression and the level of ambition. The study revealed also that there are differences between boys and girls in terms of the level of ambition in favor the girls; and there are differences between boys and girls concerning aggression in favor the boyItem Voice and narrative in “their eyes were watching God” by Zora Neale Hurston(Afkar wa Affak, 2022-03-01) Amina, SailThe correlation between power, voice and narrative in Their Eyes Were Watching God (1937) by Zora Neale Hurston has animated hot debates among scholars, critics and readers who were divided between those who consider the protagonist, Janie as a silent and weak heroine and others who see her as a resistant female figure who finds her voice at the end of the novel. The aim of this paper is to study power distributions in the novel especially in relation to gender considerations, in addition to the link between the protagonist's self-expression and her empowerment as a woman. It would be equally interesting to explore Zora Neale Hurston’s narrative choice in this literary work and its impact on the female character's representation Le lien entre la voix, le pouvoir et le récit dans Leurs Yeux Regardent Dieu par Zora Neale Hurston a animé de vifs débats parmi les universitaires, les lecteurs et les critiques qui étaient divisés entre ceux qui considèrent le protagoniste, Janie comme une héroïne silencieuse et faible et les autres qui la voient comme une figure féminine résistante qui trouve sa voix à la fin du roman. Le but de cet article est d’étudier les distributions du pouvoir dans le roman en particulier en relation avec les considérations de genre en plus du lien entre l’expression du soi du protagoniste et son autonomie entant que femme. This research deals with the status of political women throughout history from ancient Eastern civilizations to the present Era to highlight the characteristics of each model from several aspects, such as beauty, body, love, seduction, work, motherhood and power. we discussed feminist positions that are hostile and critical of Libovitsky's view of women. Our research highlights the role of women in building a different identity of the opposite sex, whether with their thoughts, tendencies and creative capacity in various fields, and our main focus is our attempt to apply the Lipoetsky's approach to Arab-Muslim and Algerian women because of our membership.Item Code switching and gender in sms textuing among algerian university students(2 universitry ABOU HJLKJ of qlgiers2جامعة أبو القاسم سعد الله الجزائر, 2014) Ibersiene Achili, Nora; Hamitouche, F.This study investigated the nature of SMS messaging, by focusing on gender differences in the amount and types of Code switching, on the one hand, and differences in language use between male and female texters, on the other hand. The study involved English Department students who evolve in an Algerian multilingual context. Data for the study was collected by using two research tools: a corpus of messages sent by the students and a questionnaire. Instances of Code switching and language use in these messages were identified, counted and analyzed. The study showed that there were twotypes of code switching occurring in messages: Extrasententialand Intrasententialswitching types, with the last mentioned as the most frequent type. In terms of gender, the results showed that there were significant differences in code switching behaviors between males and females, with females code switching more and using Intrasentential Code switching type more than men.
