I have endeavored to offer a critical perception of the British national identity’s origins and symbols; I have also questioned its decline and discussed the future of the union as its political edifice. British unity has traditionally been based on a discourse of Britishness, which is promoted through the use of British symbols and ideals and is reinforced by moments of strength, such as during the era of the British Empire, or in times of threat during warfare. Yet since the second half of the 20th century, this discourse has been embedded in the Eurosceptics’ and British unionists’ discourses. تلقي هذه الأطروحة الضوء على دور خطاب الهوية البريطانية في الحفاظ على وحدة الأمة في المملكة المتحدة، لقد سعيتُ من خلالها لتقديم تصور نقدي للهوية البريطانية بما في ذلك أصولها ورموزها كما ناقشت ضعفها ومستقبل الاتحاد البريطاني باعتباره صرحا سياسيا لها. طالما استند حس الانتماء والوحدة البريطانية على خطاب مستوحى من مختلف رموز ومُثل الأمة البريطانية المتجذرة، كما ساهمت الامبراطورية البريطانية في تعزيز هذا الخطاب وغذته الحروب. منذ النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين، أصبح هذا الخطاب يصاغ ضمن الخطاب المعارض للاتحاد الأوروبي الذي ظل يحذر من امتداد الاتحاد الاوروبي و خطر ذلك على السيادة البريطانية من جهة و ضمن خطاب الاتحاديين البريطانيين من أجل الابقاء على وحدة المملكة المتحدة من جهة أخرىItem الأسطورة أو الشذرات الأولى لسؤال الإنسان(مجلة مقاربات الفلسفية, 2022-05-05) عماري, خيرةفهم الأسطورة ليس مجرد فهم لمرحلة تاريخية مضت وانقضت، إنما هو تفكيك لآلية الوعي الإنساني في طوره الأسطوري في فهمه لذاته و للأخرين وللعالم المحيط به.و من هذا المنطلق يمكن أن تُلحق الأسطورة بالآليات الإبستمية التي نحاول من خلالها الكشف عن درجة هذا الوعي وهو يتناول سؤال الإنسان في بعده الوجودي الذي يحيله إلى لحظة البدء . تمثل الأسطورة شهادة للحضور الفاعل و الخلاّق للإنسان و جاءت لتساعده على تخطي حدوده، الباطنية والخارجية . وللتعبير عبر المجاز والرمز، عن طاقات الجسد في صراعه ليس مع ما المحيط الخارجي فحسب، بل وأيضاً مع طاقاته الداخلية باعتبارها استنطاق لبواطن الانسان ، تلك هي بعض ملامح الإنسان الذي رسمتها الأسطورة فكيف يمكن قراءة سؤال الإنسان عبر الأسطورة ؟ If philosophy is thought by concept, then the representation of the question of MAN conveyed by myth can be considered as a prefiguration of the concept. From Antiquity to the Renaissance, the transmission of the myths of Ancient Greece and Rome was paradoxically ensured by philosophy which, after having denounced the inability of these narratives to transmit the truth and to develop an argument, This exegetical instrument, represented by the myth, was used to show how, under their most surprising and scandalous elements, the highest philosophical significance of the question of man was concealed? Man, in his need to understand himself and to grasp the world, gives himself several avenues of investigation. And it is in the myth that we understand best, the collusion of the most secret, most virulent postulations of the individual psyche Starting from this paradoxical situation a question deserves to be asked: What is the value of myth in the history of the questioning of humanity on Man? Can we ignore mythological narratives in the historical knowledge of humanity to understand that is that Man? Can we consider the myth as the first beginnings of the logosItem Self-Construction, Alienation and Myth in Arthur Miller's and Eugene O'Neill's Drama (The Crucible (1953), Death of a Salesman (1949) and Long Day's Journey into Night (1956)(University of Algiers 2 Abou El Kacem Saadallah جامعة الجزائر 02 أبو القاسم سعد الله, 2022) Belounis, Rachida; Amrane, Nadjia (Directeur de thèse)The central concern of this thesis is the study of self-construction as an alienating process in Arthur Miller's The Crucible (1953) and Death of a Salesman (1949) and Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey into Night (1956). It essentially aims at highlighting the imaginary character of the foundational American myths, namely the Promised Land, the American Dream and the Self-Made-Man, which are at the core of American identity. An analysis of Miller's and O'Neill characters in the three selected plays will thus bring evidence that American identity formation causes alienation and loss rather than bring self-gratification and self-fulfillment. Therefore, this research work raises questions about American exceptionalism, bringing to the fore its utopian dimension.
