This paper approaches the problem of academic response to literature in an EFL context, as experienced by advanced undergraduate students. The challenge for them is to engage in a questioning of texts, and therefore to move beyond mere reproducing knowledge of authors and their works, as well as conventional critical comments on themes and styles.

(Faculté des Langues Etrangères. Université d'Alger 2 Abou El Kacem Saadallah, 2013-01-01) Kaouli, Nadir
The following paper is an attempt to examine the way the foreign language culture is introduced in the language classroom and how it apprehended by students. The aim is to sensitize teachers of the importance of developing the student' intercultural competence. We have started by a theoretical aspect and conducted a field work where we have tried to shed light on the way culture is taught in the department of English University of Batna. We have realizedthat a lot of work needs to be done by teachers, not only to provide students with cultural information, but also to develop their intercultural competence. Teachers and students do not view culture and its importance the same way. The main conclusion we reached is that, given the crucial role of culture, its appropriate teaching imposes itself in order to help students identify similarities and points of difference between their own culture and the foreign language culture in order to understand the other and maintain the positive from both cultures.

Discourse Awareness And Efl Students’ Writing Effectiveness
(Faculté des Langues Etrangères. Université d'Alger 2 Abu al-Qasim Saadallah, 2020-12-31) Setrallah, Ahlem
Writing is mainly a process of interaction between the writer and the reader. This interaction is often determined by a specific context which leads both the writer and the reader to select specific register, adopt a specific voice and interpret the meaning of the text accordingly. To clarify this idea, let us consider the following writing activities and see how they can help student writers be aware of discourse. Studying a model text. Peer editing where one peer is a writer and another peer responds as a reader. These writing activities are often used by teachers to make student writers aware of how discourse functions, how to use discourse to write effectively and what factors can determine how discourse is used.

In the twentieth centry, the Algerian Students Movement have been characterized by the Scientific Missions, the Algerian students suffered from the laws of the French, colonialisation. As a result, they moved to other Arab countries such as Egypt thanks to the Muslim Algerian Scholars Association. The Scholars convinced the Egyptian authorities to accept the Algerian students in their universities and institutes . The Algerian students got financial support to help them in their daily life After all, the French colonialism kept trying to follow and control the students.
