يتخذ الاستعمار عدة أشكال في هيمنته على الدول، وأخطرها الهيمنة التعليمية الثقافية، الاجتماعية، الدينية، ولعل الدارس لتاريخ الجزائر لاحظ أن فرنسا حاولت بكل الطرق نشر مجموعة من المفاهيم المبنية على مبدأ الفرنسة والذي يقابله التجهيل وفتح باب الأمية على مصرعه الواسع، وبالفعل حافظ المصلحون على التعليم العربي الإسلامي ودافعوا عنه لأنه الركيزة الأساسية وقوام المجتمع الجزائري، ولكن فرنسا حاربته بشتى الطرق، وجعلت من التعليم الفرنسي حلقة لمحاربته وتعتيم الضوء عليه، وهذا ماسوف نوضحه في مقارنة بين التعليمين العربي والفرنسي، لكي يدرك الدارس لتاريخ الجزائر الغاية من كل تعليم ومدى الحقد الفرنسي على شعب الحضارة الإسلامية Colonialism takesmany forms in its domination of states, and the most dangrous of which is the educational, cultural, social and religious domination.
