    This paper aims at presenting an 'original' theory of language -named Contrastive Linguistic Grammar- in the perspective of a discourse analysis approch. This approach to language mechanisms, based on contrastivity ans comparison of languages, was developed by the French linguist and didactician Professor Henri Adamczewski.The results of more than twenty years of theoretical linguistic research in English grammar are published in Grammaire Linguistique de l'Anglais ( 1982; GLA).

    In this paper we will examine the place of grammar in language teaching, the rationale for CR, the fundamental of TBLT and will exlain how integrating the two in grammar consciousness-raising tasks ( GCRTs) can prove to be worthwhile in certain contexts, more particulary in our context of teaching first year students of English.
